Dominican Republic Mission Trip

July 3-8, 2018

We are partnering with Compassion International to minister in the Dominican Republic this summer. This trip is open to students 16 years old and older without a parent, but we are willing to take younger students if a parents attends with them.

Below you will find the preliminary details regarding the planning timeline, air travel reservations, a preliminary itinerary, and estimated trip cost in preparation for your upcoming mission trip to the Dominican Republic.  

Age Limits:

Minimum age to travel is 13. 

Ages 13-15 yrs. old must travel with a parent, ratio 1:1

16-17 yrs. old must travel in a 5:1 ratio minor to guardian

18 yrs. old is considered an adult


March 12: Registration Deadline. All team members must have completed online registration process and submitted non-refundable $300 deposit to FBC Enterprise.  Please begin passport applications now if you do not already have a passport valid for 6 months after the date of the trip. 

Please visit to register. * In order for your registration process to progress smoothly, it will be helpful for you to have your passport, Compassion sponsorship, health (including medications) information and emergency contacts ready to enter into the system.  There will be three drop down options for you to choose from in the “Registration Type” field on the first screen.  Please choose Sponsor if you have a sponsored child, or Non-Sponsor if you don’t sponsor a child with Compassion.  Your church’s Group Facilitator, Bryan, is the only person to choose Group Facilitator.  Bryan will communicate when your payment deadlines are and other important information as your trip draws near.

IMPORTANT: The name information submitted during the registration process is the name Compassion uses to book airline tickets.  All names must be entered exactly as they appear on your passport.  Any name change or correction will result in an airline fee charge to you.

May 21: Final Balance Due.

Air Travel Reservations:

Compassion has an airfare contract on hold! Round-trip international airfare with a group contract from Atlanta, GA to Santo Domingo will cost $670.00 per person. Compassion is currently holding 30 seats. 

Preliminary Itinerary: 

Tuesday 7/3:          Depart Atlanta at 9:50am. In Country briefing, shopping, and cultural activities

Wednesday 7/4:    Day in the Life of a child, VBS day camp, serving meals to children/families

Thursday 7/5:        Survival program home visits and school visits

Friday 7/6:             Baseball skills camp

Saturday 7/7:         Life skills day with local teens and Youth development dinner

Sunday 7/8:           Wrap up and departure

Preliminary Budget:

Based on the confirmed cost of airfare which is explained above, the total trip cost of $1,950.00 per person for 20 people. A smaller team under 20 people would increase the cost as shared in-country costs (transportation, translators, and Compassion International staff to host team) would be divided among fewer team members. At the registration due date when we have a confirmed number of team members, I’ll be able to confirm the total per-person price based on the actual team size. A larger group might decrease trip cost. 

A breakdown of the $1,950.00 per person is as follows and will cover:

  •   $670.00 International Airfare from Atlanta to Santa Domingo and return.
  •   $ 75.00 Service Project cost
  •   $ 40.00 Background Check (required by Compassion), postage,     printing, and field preparation costs
  •   $100.00 Compassion Admin fee (helps cover cost of in-country host staff and planning)
  •   $1,065.00 All In-Country Expenses for 5 nights

In-Country Expenses include:

· International Flight

· Domestic transportation in-country

· Lodging

· Compassion hosting and leadership expenses

· Food and Water

· Tips

· Translation

· Traveler Insurance (individual travelers are responsible to cover their own emergency expenses in-country and file their own Insurance claims Please note that the travel insurance does not cover trip cancellations.)               

This per person cost does not include:

· Passport

· Vaccinations

· Meals while in transit

· Souvenir Shopping

· Checked bag fees

· Sponsored Children’s transportation cost to Fun Day for children

Scholarships and fundraising

There are lots of options for raising money for mission trips. You can write support letters to friends and family (a great sample letter can be found HERE ) You can also apply (if you are a member of FBC Enterprise) for a scholarship from our missions fund. This would total up to $500. We also have funds available through the student assistance fund for students who are a member of the FBCE student ministry, but not necessarily a member of FBC Enterprise.
